Welcome to Keogan Law & Tax
Keogan Law & Tax is a specialised firm providing legal and tax advice specific to complex and sensitive private client matters. We work with families to untangle the many facets of both personal and business assets and manage sensitive family concerns in the context of succession planning.

We work for people who have complicated needs or who must address complex legal and tax requirements. We help our clients to protect vulnerable family members and plan for the future. We build tax efficient structures for valuable assets, protecting them and ensuring they are working for our clients now and into the future.
Our value lies in our deep understanding of both law and tax, coupled with our 30 years’ experience working with private clients in this area.

A core element of the practice is working collaboratively with our fellow professionals, such as solicitors, accountants and financial advisers. We complement their work by providing specialist advice in relation to succession, trusts, estates and capital taxes.

This includes working with overseas advisers who seek Irish advice on cross border succession planning and probate/estate management.

Aileen Keogan

CROSS BORDER (INTERNATIONAL) ASSETS
We understand international clients’ requirements in relation to Irish aspects of their affairs. Our ‘big firm’ experience combined with our extensive knowledge of Irish gift/inheritance tax, uniquely places us in a position to provide estate planning advice to clients with Irish and foreign connections including foreign deeds of variation and the management of double taxation relief.
CONTENTIOUS TRUST MATTERS
Disputes arising in trust matters, require calm advice and a deep understanding of the technical legal and tax implications. We assist clients in ensuring their entitlements are met through negotiation, mediation, arbitration and, if necessary, litigation.
CONTENTIOUS PROBATE MATTERS
We understand that each individual and family have their own unique set of circumstances. We draft wills for clients to provide the most efficient solution to minimise the potential of a dispute escalating on death.
COMPLICATED ESTATE ADMINISTRATION
Our experienced technical knowledge and sensitive approach provide a stress-free environment for executors to resolve complicated estate administration and provide opportunities for tax planning. We advise on managing assets of significant value or with complicated structures. We are very familiar with cross border estate matters as they pertain to Irish taxes and succession matters.
ADVICE TO THE CHARITY SECTOR
We work with charities, philanthropists and other non-profit organisations on all legal and taxation aspects of setting up and administering a charity in Ireland and the wind down or transfer of assets from a charity by Cy Près or otherwise.
